Running for the 5th round since its launch in 2015, English WeCan this year brought together more than 330 junior form students from 38 secondary schools to challenge themselves to learn 500 English words in about 100 hours from 17 July to 18 August 2018!

While these young English learners were taught by over 60 university students in small groups of 6, they were also coached and supported by close to 30 corporate volunteers in their journey to acquire English words through interactive classes, experiential learning, outing activities and competitions.

Ms Irene Leung, Advisory Committee Member of the Partnership Fund for the Disadvantaged (“PF”), Social Welfare Department, and Project WeCan Committee Member also paid a visit to the classes, together with Principals and teachers of WeCan schools on 10 August to show support to students.  PF is one of sponsoring organisations of English WeCan.

We were also grateful for the generosity of Café de Coral, which kindly sponsored students and their teachers to have lunch at their restaurants when they visited Harbour City as one of the outing activities!
