In March 2021, the WeCan-CARE! A Pandemic Relief Fund (“Care Fund”) was established under Project WeCan  with a HK$5 million donation from the Wharf Emergency Relief Fund.  The aim of the Care Fund is to help students of our WeCan  schools whose families have suffered from serious financial difficulties due to loss of jobs or salary cut resulting from the pandemic.  So far, the Care Fund has provided financial relief for over 2,000 students and their families in our 76 schools.  87% of those received cash subsidies have a household monthly income $20,000 or below.

The fifth wave of the pandemic has been very severe with record high number of confirmed cases.  The prolonged social distancing measures have also resulted in further close-down of business with more people out of jobs.  Families of low income are hard hit, including the families of our WeCan  students.

In this difficult time, thanks to the Wharf Group for its generosity in donating another HK$5 million through Wharf Emergency Relief Fund to the Care Fund to provide financial assistance to students and their families in need.  This second round donation also includes a grant for all 82 schools to acquire necessary sanitary items to prepare them to resume face-to-face teaching after Easter.

Our heartfelt thanks to our partners: Café de Coral Holdings Limited, Centaline Property Agency Limited, Cushman & Wakefield, CW CPA, DBS Bank Ltd., Hong Kong Branch, M.B. KEMP LLP, Savills, Shih Wing Ching Foundation, Star Lite (Greater China) Ltd., Stephenson Harwood, Women Chief Executive Group; and personal donations from Ms Angel Ng and Mr Stephen Ng for the generosity and cash and/or in-kind support to the Care Fund to help more students and families in need.   Schools were very thankful for the timely assistance Project WeCan  and partners have provided for the students.
