This year marks the 9th edition of Shape Our Future: WeCan! – Career Exploration Day. More than 7,000 secondary school students from 82 schools gained a better understanding of their career interest through the programme.
The two rounds of event were held on 27 January and 29 June 2024 in full physical format, offering students a variety of career-related activities. Talks, workshops, career interest games, and information booths were provided to prepare students for further education and the workplace. These activities covered diverse industries such as aviation, logistics, hospitality, real estate, information technology, and professional services. A total of 64 different job tasters were arranged, allowing students to experience parts of various job positions in an interactive manner and learn more about their entry requirements and work environment.
The Honourable Tang Ping-keung, GBS, PDSM, JP, Secretary for Security joined us as the Guest of Honour to officiate at the Kick-off Ceremony at the Career Exploration Day in January. Mr Tang shared with students his personal experience, encouraging them to strive for their goals. He also provided four tips for career success: knowledge, skills, attitude, and preparation.
We extend our gratitude to the generous support of 48 organisations and WeCan partners from various industries. Thanks to their support, students had the opportunity to participate in diverse career planning activities that helped them gain a better understanding of their career interests and the available career options.
