WeCan Scholarship Presentation Ceremony 2016/17 was successfully held at the Lecture Theatre, Shaw College, The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) on 17 December 2016. This year, 73 Project WeCan students were awarded. Together with the 58 awardees last year, a total of 131 students have been awarded the scholarships.
The event was officiated by Mr Stephen Ng, Chairman of Project WeCan Committee and Professor Joseph Sung, Vice-Chancellor and President of CUHK. Both of them delivered a speech to congratulate the awardees and encouraged the students to stay positive and make contributions to the society. Two WeCan scholars, Sunny Law and Annie Lam, shared their stories and learning experience with the audience. As well, members from the WeCan Alumni Executive Committee (“Exco”) introduced the activities they participated in 2016. By sharing their volunteering experience as the Exco members, they hope to motivate all WeCan Alumni members to actively participate in community services and give back to WeCan.
More than 100 secondary school teachers and students also joined the CUHK tour organised by Project WeCan after the Ceremony.
