Initiated by the students of the School of Design, a STEAM project named “Make4ALL” is integrated into the service-learning subject “Promotion of Children and Adolescent Development” of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU). “Make4ALL” is based on the concept “sharing economy” to collaboratively create products that fosters mutual trust and benefits in the society. A series of workshops, incorporated into the “Design Fundamentals” lessons, were tailor made for S1 and S2 students in the Catholic Ming Yuen Secondary School. Both PolyU and Ming Yuen students co-designed a product or furniture by using recycled plastic bottles to help advance the school environment. Through the activity, students have successfully designed and created six small furniture for their own class.
