For the second consecutive year, Dr Glenn Yee, a dedicated partner of Buddhist Wong Wan Tin College, generously sponsored a group of students on a trip to his hometown, Kaiping, on 28 November 2025. The visit offered students the opportunity to explore the area’s famous Huaqiao (華僑) heritage sites.
The day began with a visit to the Fengcai Ancestral Hall, a monument to the Yee family’s ancestors, who contributed to their hometown using wealth earned overseas through hard work a century ago. The journey continued at Zili Village, where students admired the iconic Diaolou, UNESCO World Heritage sites that uniquely blend Chinese and Western architectural styles. These structures were originally built to protect the families living inside from robberies. The trip concluded at the Jiashili Group biscuit factory, where students observed the intricate workings of an automated production line and learned about the factory’s stringent quality control measures.
We extend a heartfelt thank you to Dr Yee for his support and for arranging the visit with local connections, providing students in-depth knowledge of this historically rich place.
