The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST)’s partnership with HKTA The Yuen Yuen Institute No. 3 Secondary School (YY3) has been instrumental in motivating the secondary students to pursue higher education.  On 27 November 2023, 12 undergraduate students from various faculties at HKUST visited YY3 to share their campus life experiences and learning journeys.  The interaction provided valuable insights and inspiration to the S6 students, encouraging them to strive for opportunities in tertiary education.

To further support the S6 students, the DSE Squad tutorial sessions were organised in February 2024. HKUST undergraduates dedicated their time to assist the S6 students in subjects such as science, mathematics, and BAFS (Business, Accounting, and Financial Studies).  These tutorials aimed to enhance their understanding and academic performance, ensuring a smoother transition when they enter a university.

To strengthen the bond between the students, a group of HKUST undergraduates organised a memorable harbour cruise at Victoria Harbour.  During the cruise, they shared their personal experiences and insights, creating lasting memories in the students’ hearts.

The partnership between HKUST and YY3 also included the “STEM with Them” programme.  On 20 April 2024, 30 students from YY3 visited the HKUST campus.  Led by enthusiastic HKUST undergraduates, the students participated in a STEM workshop that stimulated their intellectual curiosity.  Additionally, they witnessed the Underwater Robotics Competition, which showcased the innovative and exciting aspects of science and engineering.  Such unforgettable exposure motivated the students to explore and enrich their knowledge in these fields.

HKUST’s collaboration with YY3 has been effective in motivating and empowering secondary students.  Through campus visits, interactive sessions and engaging activities, the partnership has inspired students to pursue higher education and develop a passion for knowledge.
