Partnering with Outward Bound Hong Kong (OBHK), Project WeCan has introduced a new adventure programme to its students, designed to motivate them to venture out of their comfort zones and strengthen their resilience by placing them in challenging and unfamiliar situations.

A total of 168 students from 34 schools participated in a 3 day – 2 night programme between March and July 2024 at the OBHK campsite in Sai Kung.  Under the guidance of professional coaches, the adventure began with an ice-breaking game to foster camaraderie among the participants.  Through wilderness hiking and camping, the students tackled challenges, pushed their limits, and discovered newfound inner strength while enjoying the beauty of nature.  Rope climbing was another activity that tested the physical and mental resilience of the participants.  With the coaches’ guidance and support, the students learned the value of teamwork and trust as they worked together to overcome obstacles and achieve new heights.

One of the most exciting activities was the jetty jump, where participants leaped into the water from a considerable height.  By conquering their fears and embracing the unknown, they demonstrated bravery and resilience, supporting and encouraging one another throughout the exhilarating experience.  Many students considered this challenge a top priority in their to-do list before the camp.  They exhibited increased self-confidence and resilience afterwards, breaking through their personal fears and feeling more capable of handling future difficulties.

Response from the participants was very positive.  The memories created, skills acquired, and connections made during the adventure programme will undoubtedly have a lasting impact on the students.
