Over 140 secondary students from 41 WeCan schools took part in the Job Tasting Programme during this summer. Thanks to the support of 33 companies and organisations, these students enjoyed the opportunity to explore various career paths firsthand.

Their job-hunting journey commenced in May with a Zoom training session on job interview preparation. Ms Grace Leung from Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation Hong Kong shared her expertise in interview skills, guiding students on the essentials for their first job interview. To help students put when they learnt into practice, WeCan Scholars from various universities arranged mock interviews and offered advice for their improvement.

Following standard recruitment processes, students were selected for 2-4 weeks internships in different job positions, spanning a wide spectrum of industries such as food and beverage, hospitality, aviation, accounting, law, real estate, retail, customer services and marketing. A few students joining the job shadowing programme were given the chance to shadow senior management staff to gain deeper insights into various roles and industries. At the end of the internship, supervisors would conduct performance appraisals to provide feedback to the students.
