The Presentation Ceremony, held on 16 November 2024, marked a significant milestone as it celebrated the 10th anniversary of the WeCan Scholarship Scheme.  Since its inception in 2015, a total of 887 students from WeCan schools have been awarded scholarships, empowering them to pursue their dreams.

The ceremony was graced by the Guest of Honour, Mr Henry Fan Hung-ling, SBS, JP, Chairman of the Hospital Authority. He gave an inspiring speech, encouraging awardees to embody values of diligence, integrity, and perseverance for success in both life and career.  Mr Stephen Ng, Committee Chairman of the Project WeCan Foundation, also encouraged students to embrace opportunities with open minds and hearts, fostering competitiveness and creativity for their career pursuits.

Three WeCan scholars, Alex Chu, Leo Cheung and Ann Wee shared the challenges they encountered and took the opportunity to encourage their fellow scholars to be courageous in face of difficulties, and express gratitude to their teachers and families.  Scholars from past cohorts also participated in the ceremony, offering a special programme with a video, singing and sharing as a token of gratitude for the support they received.

This year, the WeCan Scholarship Scheme expanded to include undergraduate degree programmes subsidised by the Study Subsidy Scheme for Designated Professions/Sectors, welcoming 86 scholars into this year’s cohort.  The ceremony also acknowledged the Awardees of Award WeCan (Mathematics & Physics) – Award for Academic Excellence in HKDSE. In the academic year 2023/24, 25 students were recognised for achieving 5* or 5** in HKDSE Mathematics or Physics.
