On 15 November 2025, we proudly welcomed of 71 new scholars into the WeCan Alumni community.  Since its inception in 2015, the WeCan Scholarship Scheme has provided financial support for 958 students from WeCan schools to pursue their dreams.

We were honoured to have Dr Peter Wong, Chairman of The Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation Limited and The Hongkong Bank Foundation, as our Guest of Honour.  In his inspiring address, he encouraged our awardees to equip themselves with two essential tools for the future: problem-solving skills and a global perspective.  Our Committee Chairman, Mr Stephen Ng, also urged students to cultivate the irreplaceable human qualities of empathy, teamwork, and value judgement, the very capabilities that would allow them to thrive in an era of rapid change driven by the artificial intelligence.

Scholars Jacky Chen, Justin Ng and Annie Yu shared their personal experiences and how the scholarship would support their journeys, motivating their fellow awardees to overcome challenges and pursue their goals.  Justin, together with his senior from The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, Joyce Wong, also a WeCan scholar, gave a heartfelt live performance of the pop song Stars (凡星).  In the performance, they expressed gratitude on behalf of all awardees to their families, teachers, friends, corporate volunteers, and the wider community, and vowed to work hard for their futures and honour the support they have received.

The ceremony also celebrated the recipients of the Award WeCan (Mathematics & Physics) – Award for Academic Excellence in HKDSE, recognising 24 students who achieved 5* or 5** in HKDSE Mathematics or Physics.
