WeCan Scholarship Presentation Ceremony 2022/23 was held on 29 October 2022 at the Conference Hall, HKPC Building, and 75 students were awarded the scholarship this year.  The WeCan Scholarship Scheme has so far benefitted 711 students and committed over HK$50 million since its launch in 2015.

We are honoured to have Mr Carlson Tong, GBS, JP, ex-Chairman of the University Grants Committee, to be our Guest of Honour.  He shared his “3As” with the awardees, including “Aspiration”, “Appreciation” and “Action”, to encourage them to broaden their horizon, and explore aspects beyond their academic scopes.

Mr Stephen Ng, Committee Chairman of the Project WeCan Foundation, also shared his “3Os” (Open your eyes; open your mind; and open your heart), to encourage awardees to look out for opportunities, equip themselves and be prepared for the change in life.

Three 2022/23 WeCan Scholars, Josephine Chau, Lego Fung, and Carl Ngan shared their heart-warming stories at the ceremony.  Their personal experience inspired and motivated other awardees to continue working hard for their future.  Yumi Sze, a 2021/22 WeCan Scholar and a Year 2 university student, also shared her tips on adapting to university life with her fellow scholars who just entered universities.  She encouraged them not to be afraid to ask, but to be more open to meet new friends and be proactive.

The ceremony climaxed with Project WeCan Alumni Executive Committee members leading their fellow scholars in demonstrating the WeCan Beat which showed their determination in upholding the WeCan spirit to actively participate in WeCan programmes to give back to WeCan and contribute to the society.

University representatives, partners, principals, teachers, and parents joined the ceremony to share the happiness of the awardees.
