The Art! WeCan Exhibition ended with an encouraging success, showcasing artworks from 13 WeCan schools in various art forms. The artworks were created during the “Artist-in-Residence” programme which spanned from March to June 2023.  The exhibition, held at Plaza Hollywood from 27 June to 5 July, featured the theme “Yes, WeCan!” and included an array of art forms, such as embroidery, graffiti, glass-coloured portraits, quilling and puppets.

Furthermore, in late June, visual arts workshops were conducted at Harbour City, where students were able to create their own portraits with wires to decorate desk lamps.  Students who participated in the “Artist-in-Residence” programme also shared their thoughts and ideas expressed through their artwork with their peers.

Through a collaborative effort between Project WeCan and the Hong Kong Youth Arts Foundation, Art! WeCan aims to encourage students to believe in their limitless potential and empower them to realise their aspirations.  The artworks created during the “Artist-in-Residence” programme and the visual arts workshops served as compelling testaments to the students’ profound self-discovery and the ability to express their hopes and dreams through art. Such empowerment was the greatest accomplishment of this programme.

Art! WeCan brought together more than 350 students from different schools to showcase their artistic talents. Witnessing the students’ creativity and passion for the arts was truly heartening. We look forward to creating more programmes that will help unleash the potential of WeCan students.
